Board Member

Positions

Net Impact is a fun and dynamic way to engage in the Seattle community. As a board member, you will gain valuable event planning and leadership experience, along with the opportunity to network with professionals and experts in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. We are seeking candidates who are proactive team players and are committed to our mission. Prior board member and event management experience is preferred, but not required.

SECRETARY

Responsible for record keeping and notes and ensuring any rules or bylaws are followed by the board.

Key responsibilities:

  • Takes meeting notes using the format outlined in Board Minutes Requirements (see below) 

  • Establish and execute record keeping protocols, maintain the Google Drive and keep documents and chapter resources streamlined and organized

  • Responsible for coordinating with the President and Vice President to ensure meeting notes are sent to board members prior to meetings via Slack and expected to present previous meeting minutes in each meeting (see Board Meeting Best Practices).

  • Submit annual report to the Secretary of State (coordinate payment with Treasurer)

  • Assist with 501c3 application 

  • Coordinate with Vice President, Treasurer and Membership lead on succession leadership between current board members and future board members

REQUIREMENTS

  • Term: April 2021 - January 2023

  • Attendance at monthly meetings (in-person & virtual)

  • Attendance at events

  • In addition to specific roles, assist in planning and executing networking events

  • Time commitment may vary based on your role on the board and the month 

    • Monthly: 5-10 hours per month 

    • Annually: Attendance at 75% of events

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

Responsible for overseeing current membership lists and outreach strategy for increasing membership. 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Outline and identify value-add/benefits for membership ​

  • Convert and encourage Seattle event participants to join as members of Net Impact Central

  • Host quarterly happy hours or other events focused on recruiting new Net Impact members

  • Create and send a survey to collect member information for interests and retention and report data to Board Chair

  • Provide membership updates at board meetings

  • Outreach with Net Impact regional network for interest to contribute to Net Impact Chapter operational activities

  • Review email correspondence of interested members to become contributing members, including follow-up correspondence

  • Coordinate and review applications, communicate to board members about applicants

  • Coordinate with Event and Media leads to promote recruiting positions 

  • Manage onboarding and integration of contributing members to Net Impact Seattle
